The top chisel is the SCH2 and is fitted with a 10mm AU Cutter. The second chisel down is the SCH3 and is fitted with a 12mm AU Cutter. The third chisel down is the SCH7 and is fitted with an 8mm AU Cutter. The fourth chisel down is the SCH8 and is fitted with a 6mm AU Cutter.
My SCH Range of chisels have been designed and made to give total catch free turning. The AU cutter as been fitted to the bar at the perfect angle to allow the tool to be held with the bar flat on the tool rest, parellel to the lathe bed and with a simple sweeping action you will achieve a smooth bevel controlled cut. This will give a perfect finish with no tear-out, no catches and no grabbing every time. I originally designed this chisel for blind woodturners, starting with the SCH3 because of its ease of using and safe, catch free turning. Hollowing is where this tool really comes into its own. If you struggle to hollow with a bowl Gouge, then this tool will make your hollowing a joy. As with all my tools, I have demonstrated all the fantastic things that can be done with these tools, on my YouTube channel. As I always say, "If you haven't got one of these, why not. Get one". Hollowing could not be made easier. They come in a range of cutter sizes to suit different projects and Turners needs. All the SCH chisels work the same. Easy, catch free finishes, achievable by anyone. This has to be the simplest of tools to use. Of course SCH chisels are not just for hollowing. There's a whole variety of techniques and projects that can be done with these tools. Easier to watch them than for me to explain. Again, I highly recommend watching our YouTube videos for all the wonderful things that can be done with these tools. You'll become a professional in no time. As with all tools, side grain is always hollowed from outside in, never from centre out. End grain centre out works best.
